Submit a Story

We are using historical diaries to make Indo History Come Alive. The Indo Project encourages Indo families to share their own personal stories online for future generations.

Begin by filling out the form below. Send us your short proposal or complete article and photos. The story must not have been previously published. We don’t consider simultaneous submissions (meaning that the same article is pending with another editor at the time it is send to The Indo Project).

Articles should be in WORD format, in ARIAL 12pt font. The ideal length for a post is between 1,000 and 1,500 words being the max.

Photos preferably with a minimum of 1200px width and 700px height.

We prefer the article to be something you experienced, a memoire pertaining to the former Dutch East Indies and/or Indo history and culture. Write something that you would want to read yourself. It may also be a profile of a notable Indo or people who have ties with the former Dutch-East Indies.

Make it interesting and write with reader in mind. Readers of internet articles are different. They are often busy and have a short attention span. Organize the piece by starting with a brief set-up that hooks the reader, then organize the rest in segments. Short paragraphs and headings within the article make it easier to read.

Please include a brief biography consisting of a couple of lines along with your contact information.

If your story is selected for publication on The Indo Project website, we will notify you within 5 business days. We reserve the right to edit your submission at our discretion to improve readability. All stories will become part of The Indo Project Digital Archives with access by the public.

We hope you will include your story in our Digital Archives. Thank you for your participation!

Please fill out form below and send your word document with optional images as attachments – total size 25mb. If you have more than 25mb, please use WeTransfer.com and send to stories @ theindoproject.org.
