The Indo Project (TIP) turned 10 in 2019. We are celebrating this milestone with a makeover.

OUR MISSION STATEMENT:
The Indo Project is dedicated to the preservation, promotion, and celebration of Indo culture as well as its history through education, unification and raising public awareness.

Yes, TIP will have a new visual identity to complement its mission. This means a new logo and a new website scheduled for summer 2020.

The Indo Project was started in 2009 to tell the English speaking world the stories of the Indo people, its place in history, and unify its diaspora.

Our mission drives TIP, and the need to grow to better educate the world, is pushing every aspect of our organization to look for better ways to connect and increase awareness. TIP introduces new solutions, it is the professional international NGO – a global educational platform and news publication on Indo history and culture.

Our tagline: “Honor the Past. Preserve the Future”, reminds us that the past is our history. It has been the vehicle that carried us to who we are today. If we are to preserve our heritage, we cannot forget where we came from, understand what our Indo culture entails, share the knowledge and foster a sense of belonging to shape the future.

WHY A NEW BRAND?
Research has shown that TIP is well recognized among 1st and 2nd generation Indo people. The Indo Project is a work in progress, and like our community, we too are evolving. There is a reawakening and growing consciousness about Indo heritage and INDO PRIDE.

TIP’s rebrand goal is to create a visual (r)evolution – a new Indo awareness worldwide – another milestone!

In a changing world and our evolving community, we are constantly striving to better engage with our target audience. Also, young adults need to be aware of our organization to emotionally connect with our cause; hence our rebranding initiative.

We are eager to share with you the two logo concepts that our graphic designer has made. Later this summer we will present these to our audience on our website. They will get a chance to cast their vote as to which one is most relevant and best represents TIP’s values and cause. The winning logo will then be applied to all our channels and will be presented on the day we launch our new website. The premier is scheduled for early summer 2020.

While some things may change, some things will stay the same, and that’s our dedication to you and our mission. We are excited for you all to join us, as we start a new TIP chapter and decade.

Also on behalf of the Board of Directors of The Indo Project and myself,

Jeff Keasberry
Chair Rebranding Committee

WHY CHANGE FROM WAYANG?

Some of you may ask why would TIP move away from the Wayang logo? You are right to ask because that’s a question we asked ourselves too! The Wayang is and was a symbol associated with our shared past but it did not help lead our community to the future – one in which our children and their children will have a chance to know about our past, including the Wayang, and our future!
With focus on the preservation of our culture for the future, while respecting the past, we are changing and evolving into an organization that wants to appeal to all Indos including you, your children and their children and beyond. We want to be more inclusive of all our many constituents.
So we really spent time and energy looking for a logo that is unique but that also symbolizes both our mission and our story of the Indo people.  What better time than now on our 10th anniversary?
We love our Wayang logo and so we will honor it in our hall of fame on our new website which is also super exciting. It will remind us all how we started at The Indo Project. We thank you for your interest in TIP and your continued support. Without you these last ten years could not have been so successful. We look forward to our future together.

It is with much pleasure that I look forward to the new rebranding and marquee of TIP. I am whole heartedly in agreement that moving forward to capture new generation Indo is what we should strive for to preserve our future, yet not forget where we came from and honor our past. Our presence today must be shared with all old and new.

Will you be taking a vote on changing the logo? You say you will present 2 choices, is the original a choice?

I look forward to the rebranding and (r)evolution of TIP. Many of us, even 2nd generation and so on down the line, have no real knowledge of TIP. An outreach to the new generations is certainly a good route to take into the next decade. Let us not forget those that have current TIP knowledge and have supported TIP throughout the years. As the times of tempo doeloe slips by, it would certainly behoeve us to focus on the days of repatriation and assimilation to bring awareness and passion back to the INDO. Perhaps collaboration with Indo-Centric organizations and social media…..I am curiously waiting to see the new logo and the new TIP……thanks for the TIP…

The “old”/current TIP logo is instantly recognizeable (no explanation necessary) and much more representative of TIP’s identity – at least to this “senior” Indo. The new, more vague, design choices could, with different interpretations, conceivably be applied to other organizations. I realize that, in life, the only constant is change; however, there remains something to be said for tradition, i.e. Indo tradition and Indo Pride: the roots of TIP. I fail to see how a change to TIP’s logo with either of these design choices would better engage with a target audience.

I agree with Eric Wiggers, even though I voted. I dont know if it makes any difference now.
