On April 27, 2013, The Indo Project held its third Florida Kumpulan. In excess of 100 people attended. Needless to say, there was lots of good food, music, dancing and getting re-acquainted with old friends. Drawing prizes included spekkoek, Bols jenever and several baskets filled with Dutch and Indo goodies, such as drop, hagelslag, bumbu bumbu and other delicious things.
Special guests included Rene Creutzberg (of De Indo fame) and his wife, as well as Erica Bürer and her father from Holland. Erica is married to and Indo and is working on a book that will feature portraits of older Indos . While in Florida, Erica interviewed and made portraits of a number of people. Rene is responsible for De Indo magazine, a monthly edition with subscribers all over the world. Articles are in both Dutch and English. For further information on “De Indo” please visit info@deindo.com or www.deindo.com Attendees came from as far as California, Texas, New Jersey and Maryland. We are very fortunate in that The Indo Project is becoming better known and that we are reaching more Indos every day so that we can “honor our past and preserve the future.”
The next Florida event will take place in November 2013. For those of you who live in the North-East, there is an Indo gathering scheduled for September 7th; the 5th annual Indo Heritage event in New York. Check our event calendar for more details and check back regularly. We also post updates on our Facebook page. We welcome anyone who would like to attend. If you would like to be placed on our mailing list, please send an email to info@theindoproject.org and we will be more than happy to mail you an invitation.
Heel leuk.
Ronny, we are happy to report that she also came to the Nov. 10th kumpulan in Spring Hill, Fl. She is not only beautiful on the outside but on the inside as well…but I don’t have to tell you that, do I? All kidding aside, she and I will stay in contact and maybe get her to volunteer for The Indo Project. Thanks as always for your interest and support!
