Marghuerita Ilcken Scaglione was born in Emmen, Drenthe, Netherlands. Her parents Edward Ilcken and Wynanda Clarenbach Ilcken were both from Java. The family immigrated to the United States, on the Grote Beer in in 1957 and settled in Riverside, Ca.
Marghuerita’s professional life included running a construction related business in Las Vegas, Nevada, being a public speaker on behalf of a number of international women’s organizations, a founder of several organizations, serving on a number of boards and conducting leadership training and motivational speaking engagements. Besides being an avid volunteer for many causes, Marghuerita is an accomplished actress and singer. In 2011, she starred in the film “Tears of Remedy” and in 2012 completed a web series, “SleepWalker”. She is now starring in another feature length film “The Last One” in which she will also be singing the theme song.
Marghuerita has recently begun the journey to find out more about her Indo roots. She feels especially privileged to be able to contribute her artistic and creative skills in enhancing the success of the biannual events that bring the Indo community together in Florida and at the same time learn more about her ancestral culture and history.
